The discourteous answer to the above 3 questions is yes, yes and with a lot of hard work. And that inalterable answer is the key. Like most things in life you get around what you put in. I have pretty untold lived and inaudible soap for the last a couple of old age which is wherefore I can answer yes to those first 2 questions.
I am frequently told I am an inspiration, what I have achieved is amazing. I'm lucky! Yes lucky! 5. You are going to have to set out to grips with ethnic media and have a business account with at least a couple, I am happening Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. And show up on a regular basis. No-one is expiration to look for you. You need to stick in the leg work.
6. If you really wishing to make a decent wage you are going to have to do wholesale - ie sell your products to early retailers who will sell them for you. Let them serve what they are good at ie selling. You do what you are good at ie making soap. Or so 70% of my dog soap business is wholesale.
7. Pricing. Get your pricing just to allow for wholesale. Unluckily we complete have bills to pay. There is no point in you qualification thousands of parallel bars of soap and making very half-size out of it. (be aware that in the UK if you are not turn a profit by year 3 HMRC leave deem you to have a hobby not a business enterprise)
8. Be savvy about what you assume - I have made mistakes here I admit but I have now learnt to pronounce atomic number 102.. It is your business and if you do not want to make that bespoke line of 20 soaps for the local B & B which is going to take far more time than it is worth then say no.
9. Take altogether the backing you can, online stage business groups, facebook support groups but don't get sucked into the vortex of listening to all bit of advice or podcast that shows up on your feed. Pick 1 or 2 or in my case 3 that rattling vibrate with you and stick with them. I am in a womens business group called The Cocoon run aside the fantastic Erin Thomas-Wong of The Mumpreneur Collective, that is a paid subscription group but worth all centime. And I listen to the Untrammeled Mother Podcast by Cori Javid and am now character of her mastermind ( a big but important financial investment in myself and my business) and The Janet Sir James Augustus Henry Murra Show podcast with coincidentally Janet Murray I get different things from every of them and they are all surprising and I extremely urge them. Which leads me on to me next point.
10. Invest in yourself. I have spent money connected attending seminars or buying online courses/templates/coaching job with all of the above women. Once again, I am not on any kind of committee. I state it because without all 3 of them I would not be where I am nowadays. I instantly also give birth invested in support with social media on a time unit basis.

I can honestly say, handwriting on heart, that course at once led to me protrusive to Teach easy lay making terminal year. I was going to wait until much further down the line - and that in turn led to me rental my long dreamt of shop in Poundbury. Oh and acquiring my long awaited and much idolised Land Rover defender. To put off that in perspective I purchased the course in I call back July 2022 - so less than a year to achieve whol that!
Janet Murray is the queen of building your online audience, I have never met her only I did purchase her row around taking your business from Offline to Online when Covid hit and it was brilliant. Worth noting that I have several online options now and the Soap Coach Power Hour is unrivaled of the ingenious suggestions she comes up with. Her podcast is one of the highlights of my week. She has recently rebranded to Spirited Smug and the current podcast is well worth a hear.
I know I have spent much of time happening point 10 - a/ because I think it is really important to spend clock time and money on these things. They deliver you a great deal of time in the end and will drive your business organization forward and b/ I genuinely want to give way something hindermost where these 3 ladies are involved. 11. Get an accountant. Goes back to point 6 really. Bind what you are good at.
12. Hold amazing, and I nasty amazing customer table service. No customers means no commercial enterprise. Seriously, I am forever grateful to each and every one of mine and I know they revalue the fact that I pride myself on my client armed service.
13. Think of this is a business organization not a hobby. You may love rose geranium lather but you are going to have to make gallons of lavender and mint because that is what sells superior (insert whatever is applicatory for those) You are also going to have to spend further more time at the laptop than you ever anticipated.
14. Have faith in yourself. You can absolutely do this if you want IT enough. There will be blood (ok maybe non quite pedigree), sweat and tears. You will doubt yourself. You will have awful lows and mahoosive highs. It will be harder than you think. You will have imposter syndrome. You will get blase fashioning the same soaps over and over, You will agonise over packaging. You volition get yourself in a pickle finished stock control only you leave also Be super proud of yourself when you review and see what you have achieved which takes ME back to that key manoeuvre right at first. Work smart, pay others where it makes sense to. This fanny save you a immense amount of time leaving you exempt to arise your business. And yes there will be hard work up to his neck.
