Netflix Labs 2022: HDR Content Will Thrive on Mobile
Mention HDR and what comes to mind immediately is the hyper-bright colour functioning of large TVs that offer Full Hard disk drive and 4K resolutions. The idea of seeing the same advancements on mobile devices seemed like a pipeline dream.
Netflix believes that will all change in the coming months.
2017 flagships from various smart device vendors are expected to pack in HDR visual functioning to farther raise the overall user experience. Such expectations would mean seeing HDR content beingness fabricated specifically for mobile consumption. With Sony Mobile making a play at tiny 4K displays still, like the HDR-enabled panel used on the yet-to-launch Sony Xperia XZ Premium, and LG being the offset to gyre-out HDR operation for mobile devices via its LG G6 flagship, it does feel similar a timely movement.
As is, Netflix and Dolby Laboratories (Dolby Labs) have confirmed of plans to create and curate HDR content that tin can be scaled for mobile platforms. While in that location are no specific strategies shared, the direction is very clear for both: create more HDR-enabled fabric that can be watched anywhere and on whatever device.

During the visit to Dolby Labs, 2 LG G6 engineering science samples have been put out to show how HDR-powered content looked like on a smartphone. To make the comparing hands noticeable, one had an older user build that does not have HDR while the other is using something more electric current with the definitive visual enhancements enabled.

Seeing them side-by-side showed how much of a difference there between the ii. On the HDR-enabled LG G6, the colours are richer and everything looked well-baked, while the other had less hues to bear witness. To brand sure there are no tricks involved, the brightness level has been maxed out with car-controls turned off. Bombardment testing is included to meet if HDR would drain the ability cell faster and, from what is shown, the energy reduction is nearly the same between the 2.
This reinforces the notion that Netflix is committed to its goal of creating an avant-garde content delivery so as to continuously push for a progressive user experience.
